Sunshine Rays

Every time I look at this card, it  makes me smile.  It's one of my favorite cards I've made, because the colors are beautiful and the sun just pops out at me.   It also showcases several techniques that are really fun to play with.

The first technique is called Spirelli String Art.  Depending upon how you lay the strings, you can make different styles of art pieces.  In this case, I wound the string (CTMH Glacier Twine) every four petals of the Smoothie flower.  Both flowers were cut using the Cricut.  The inside of the flower is from the Blossom Cardmaking kit, stamped in Sunset Ink.

The second technique is called Faux Torn Mosaic and an explanation can be found at Splitcoast here.  Basically, I tore up a bunch of pieces of B&T paper, inked edges with Lagoon Ink (my fav color!) and randomly glued the pieces to the card base.  Make sure to overlap the edges, and then cut them off to make a clean cut.  The sentiment is from the Rain or Shine stamp set.  You can see another card I made earlier here called Summertime Rainbows.

Allow the B&T paper to lay over the edges.  Then cut them clean off.

Icy Pop Ropes

Besides cold ice cream treats, one of my favorite treats as a kid was licorice.  I loved getting the long ropes of cherry or strawberry flavored goodness.  One of the things I liked to do was play with the ropes.  I'd wrap them around and around to make fun shapes, and then gobble up the shapes.

That gave me the idea to try using the CTMH twine like the licorice rope to make one of my popsicles POP out of the page.  Liquid glue, either Liquid Glass or Bonding Memories Glue, give you enough time and sticking power to create the wrapped up pop.  The letters in between the sticks were cut from the stamp "WISH" from the Blossom Cardmaking kit.  Cutting up words/sayings make them more versatile for your projects.

Take a Bite

Wow this ice cream pop looked so delicious, someone took a bite out of it!  'Course, if you don't eat it quickly, this large icy pop will melt!  When I was little, my father was the one who always helped finish up my ice cream when I couldn't eat it fast enough before it melted.  Boy does he love ice cream!

It was so easy to put this card together.  The card layout came from Anne over at Blue Moon Creations.  The direct-to-paper technique worked perfect to make this large sweet pop.  I think the twine ties together a fun summer card that can be used for anything from a kid's birthday or just to send a little hello in the mail.

Sweet Birthdays

As a kid living in Ohio, I spent a lot of time outdoors in the summer.  This included hanging with my best friend who lived on a street the ice cream man would drive down.  All of the kids would run from all directions to his van that expelled the cold, sweet goodness.  This card reminds me of that time.  We'd all get different kinds of ice cream, mostly icy pops on sticks that came in so many different colorful flavors.

The card sketch came from the My Favorite Things blog.  The popsicle image is from the Blossom Cardmaking kit.  The sentiment can be found in the Artiste Cricut Cartridge Collection.  The Coral Reef sequins and twine make it lumpy fun.

Travel the World

You might not have noticed, but on page 103 in the Annual Inspirations book, we have M-sized stamps of all of the United States and Canadian Provinces and Territories. We even have stamps of Australia and New Zealand.  Each stamp comes with a filled in image of the state, the full name, and the 2-letter abbreviation.

As you start to collect your M-sized stamps, we have a new organizer that fits them. The My Acrylix® Mini Stamp Organizer holds up to 28 My Acrylix® M-size stamp sets. On top of that, it fits the reinkers or Shimmer Trim perfectly too!

A Popsicle 4 You

The Blossom My Reflections kit from this summer's Seasonal Expressions book was an amazing colorful set of papers and goodies.  The Cardmaking WOTG came with a fun summer stamp set with popsicles and flowers.

Adding 3-d adhesive to the center icy pop created easy dimension.  The main idea came from Karen's blog here.  I used the center of the larger flower in the stamp set as little, light colored circles around the brightly colored icy pops.  The light color circles remind me of blowing bubbles in the summertime.  Twine tied it all together.

I loved the color scheme and fun, summery images from this set.  As the colder weather approaches in much of the US, look for more Blossom cards to reminisce of summer days past.
