Chalk It Up: Football

Flag

The last layouts from the Chalk It Up WOTG used the layout sketches included with the WOTG brochure.  These two layouts are based on sketches from the Make It From Your Heart Volume 1.  This is Pattern Seven on page 19.  Both sides of the page are rotated from the original instructions to fit with the photos I wanted to scrapbook.  Any ideas for a title?  The strip along the bottom left will be stamped when I can decide on a clever title.

Again, I wanted to hide the newspaper articles about the game, so I used the Magic book for ideas.  Our 3-D Foam Tape makes an easy pocket to slide the newspaper down behind.

Football

The second layout is pattern thirteen on page 31.   Our Background & Texture paper is cardstock quality, so you can use it as the base for scrapbook or cards.  On the left, a Cricut cutout set to 11" size helps frame the main photo of the layout.

Those sneaky journaling boxes popped up again.  This time, I printed a nice photo from the newspaper, but didn't want to include it on the layout.  I wanted to showcase my photos more.  I used the thicker 3-D Foam Tape to lift the matted photo up, and attached a piece of stamped cardstock to the back of the newspaper photo to act as a pull tab.

I love, love, love our Flip Flaps, clear memory protectors in various sizes to add more photos to a layout, or hidden journaling.  In this layout, I used it to add two more photos with the UM Cheerleaders that I would normally not have enough room for.  They can also be used to hold memorabilia that you may not want touching your photos because it is not acid free.

Chalk It Up: LIfe Is Good

The Chalk It Up Workshop on the Go is a great kit to play with this month.  The school theme fit right in with the photos I have for a UM football game from 2009.  This is the first two layouts of the series.  The Workshop on the Go kits have enough paper for two layouts, plus leftovers! New this year with the WOTG is the option to use the Cricut to create interesting objects on the layouts.  Each WOTG brochure shows you how to make the layout with or without the Cricut.

I wanted to incorporate hidden journaling from the newspaper articles that I saved.   The best way to get ideas for that is our book called Magic, a book that shows you how to add hands-on excitement and dramatically increase your photo and journaling space using pop-ups, pull-outs, slides, cascades, and more!  The above fold out shows a long article from the newspaper, all nicely hidden.  The photo below shows how to incorporate a stamped image (the word bubble) and the awesome puffy stickers from the CIU Assortment.  I get to use the same amount of photos that I want, but the wordy articles are hidden.

Bonus Layout

Each Workshop comes with a second, bonus layout.  Using plain cardstock as bases, you can stretch your paper packet even further.

Customize the WOTG layouts with other items from your stash.

I used more hidden journaling on the bonus layout.  Cricut cutouts and journaling stamps from the WOTG stamp set made it easy to create the rotating box with a brad.  The newspaper article in the right image is hidden below an image, and accessible using the black striped twill ribbon.

We are in the last days for the September Stamp of the Month, What a Hoot!  Don't miss out on this super fun stamp set.  Not only does it have owl images, two of the owl wings can be used as Bat wings.  This cute card took no time at all to make.

The balloon image and Happy Birthday stamp are from the Cricut Artiste Collection.  Pop the balloon and bat up using 3-d adhesive. Don't forget the inside sentiment.

School's In

School is about to start or is already back in session for many of you.  Check out this cute little box, created with the Artiste Cricut Cartridge.  This example uses the Chalk It Up Paper pack.  Our B&T paper is cardstock quality, so it makes a great base for boxes.  Tie up the goodies inside tightly with a Cranberry Stripped Twill Ribbon.  The fun little White Enamel Stars are brand new.

5 New PML Sets

Clap along if you...

Pharrell is on to something with his hugely popular hit, Happy, which is upbeat, catchy, and makes you smile.  The same thing happens when I look at this card.  Upbeat, colorful, pretty bold flowers.

Color My Heart dared us this week to use some unusual colors, Honey, Ruby, and Lagoon.  I've discussed here many times how much I love Lagoon, so of course I took the challenge!  The flowers were colored in using our new Shin Han Twin Touch Markers.  They are super smooth and easy to use, with rich bold colors.

The papers included here are unusual too.  The Ruby paper is a Christmas paper, and the Lagoon is from Skylark and the Honey from Jubilee paper.  The flowers and "Happy" stamps are a part of a new stamp set called Happy Birds

All New Exclusive Colors

Who loves Frozen?  Pretty much every kid in the world.  I know most of my friends and their little girls have seen the movie and are in love with the lovable Olaf and want to be one of the princesses, Elsa or Anna.  Capture their excitement in scrapbook pages using our new colors, Thistle, Glacier, Flaxen, along with my favorite color, Lagoon!  Pixie and Canary are also wonderful bright new colors we added to the Exclusive Inks color palette.

SOTM: What a Hoot

When you go owling you don’t need words or warm or anything but hope. That’s what Pa says. The kind of hope that flies on silent wings under a shining Owl Moon.
--Jane Yolen--

This month's Stamp of the Month is a great sketch style set with owls and parties, and Halloween.  The wings in this set are great.  The owls are kind of like Mr. Potato Heads where you can add what eyes, wings, or hats that you want and make each owl very different.  Two of the wings look like they could be used as bat wings.  This stamp set is only available this month.  Contact me to see how you can get it for just $5!
